Kriolish is a platform built by a group of Cabo Verdeans residing in the city of Brockton as well as in Cabo Verde. Their goal is to make all Creole languages of the world accessible, starting with the Cabo Verdean Creole.
This web-based interface offers dictionaries that provide an experience similar to searching on Google. The English-to-Creole translation dictionary boasts thousands of words with definitions, example sentences, and audible pronunciations. Kriolish also offers a dictionary of idioms with expressions passed down through generations of Cabo Verdean oral traditions, allowing. users to learn the language more intimately and authentically.
Kriolish is one of the few online resources of its kind being offered completely for free. Kriolish stands out from the rest because it's continuously expanding. Due to their crowdsourced nature, the public can contribute to the dictionaries by making translation requests and/or by contributing expressions from any of the islands of Cabo Verde.
