Events for Teens

Art Smart Turns Ten

This March marks the tenth year Brockton Public Library will host an art competition among Brockton high school students. Teens are invited to submit their works of art, no more than two per person, by March 8th. The exhibit opens on March 11th; patrons may view the works during open library hours. Artists in the community vote for first, second, and third place winners, as well as judging those worthy of an honorable mention. An art reception for the exhibitors will be held, March 25th, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Family, friends, teachers, trustees, city officials, and the general public are cordially invited to attend this event. First prize awards $100, second $75, and third $50. The winning paintings or photographs are then displayed for a year in the Teen area of the Brockton Public Library. Brockton enjoys a proud tradition of fostering new artists from Giovanni Castano to Fredrick Glazier to Robert Arthur and this month’s young exhibitors.
