Spring Art Exhibit and Contest

Submit entries with entry form March 1 - March 13. Exhibit opens March 15, 2010. Bring entries to the Reference Desk on the top floor of the Main Library (304 Main St.)

 

 

Contest Prizes and Judging

First prize is $400. Second prize is $200. Third prize is $100.Student artwork will be exhibited in the Joseph A. Driscoll Gallery of the Brockton Public Library for two weeks. Winning entries will be displayed on the walls of the Young Adult area in the Brockton Public Library for one year. The two spaces designated for the artwork would support canvases of approximately the following dimensions: 4’x4’, 3’x3’, or any combination of those. All works submitted must be ready to hang. Sculptures and art in bas-relief will not be competitive. Library trustees and two artists will judge entries. Winners will be notified by March 27th so that they can be present for the reception on March 30th. All participants, their families, and the public are invited to the reception.

 

Submitting your entry

Fill out the entry form with your name, address, and home telephone number. Describe your entry by title, medium, and size. Please include your age and the school you are attending as well as the address of your school. Additionally, we request your permission to film or photograph you and/or your work for publicity purposes. Entry forms and entries must be submitted together. Entries may be brought to the top-floor Reference Desk of the Brockton Public Library (304 Main St.) during regular library hours. Each entry must be submitted with completed entry form between 3/1/10 and 3/13/10.

 

Entry terms and conditions

The aim of the contest is to provide an opportunity for Brockton’s high school artists to win recognition for their talents and to enhance the Brockton Public Library’s Young Adult space with original art. All high school students living in Brockton and enrolled in public, private, or home school are eligible to enter. The artist must create the artwork, preferably designed to hang on the walls described above. No more than two entries will be accepted from each artist. Not all pieces may be hung due to space limitations in the Joseph A. Driscoll Gallery (top floor of the Main Library), but all pieces will be judged.

 

There is no entry fee.
